Questions and Visa Security

1. Explanation of terminology
Single, double, multiple entries
Single, double, triple or multiple entry refers to the number of times a person may enter a specific country during the validity of the visa. For example a double entry visa issued for a period of 60 days (the validity) will permit the traveler to enter the country twice within that 60 day period. Single, double, triple or multiple does not refer to the number of travelers or applicants.
Visa Validity
Visa validity refers to the period of time the visa is valid for or can be used to enter the country. The period of validity can be different according to purpose and number of entries. Visa validity also varies from country to country. Most countries issue a visa whose validity begins the day the visa is issued. For example a visa with a 3 months validity would begin the day the visa was issued, January 1 and expire April 1. The traveler would only be allowed to enter during this period.

What else should I know about id cards?
Before traveling abroad, make a copy of the identification page so it is easier to get a new passport, should it be necessary. It is also a good idea to carry two extra passport-size photos with you. You should also check to see if you have run out of visa pages. Please note the last few pages of your passport are for amendments only and cannot be used for adding visas to your passport.
